Therapy for tween-agers (10-12)
Oh, the “between years”… begging to be treated like an adult one day, and the next day still playing with dolls. Tweens are occupying a very unique, tiny subset of child development in which they are beginning to mature and take on new responsibility, but are still very reliant on their parents and caregivers. The behaviors and emotions of this crew can be very confusing to onlookers (aka Mom or Dad) and because of this, we need to tailor therapy a little differently to them. Therapy with tweens is about tapping into their interests, allowing them to be as child-like as they need to be and incorporating expressive arts, activity therapy, and parent consultation.
